Question Display won't go 200hz or above after panel change

Hi,

I got my hands an Asus PG258Q with a broken panel that I decided to replace. Ordered my self a new Q250HTA00 panel that is supposed to be original and it seems to have everything that is pointing to that.

Now that the panel is replaced, the display won't go above 144hz. 200hz or 240hz makes the screen go black and then I see the desktop blink a few times. At the end, change times out and settings restore 144hz. It doesn't say anything about out of range or anything like that. Video of the problem and a still shot from the video can be found here: View: https://imgur.com/a/TaEU4Po

Everything else is working perfectly and 144hz is stable. So I assume something about the monitor HW as I've tried different DisplayPort cables and different GPU's and drivers (newest being GTX1660).

The replacement went without problems and I believe all the cables inside the monitor are intact.

Any enthusiasts who know what to look for next?
