Question: I have the msi z170a gaming motherboard, the gtx 1080 msi gaming x graphics card, and the corsair vengeance ddr4 2x8gb ram sticks.

I just assembled my first tower, and ive plugged everything in and it all turns on and functions, but my moniter will not pick up any signal from my tower. It knows there is something plugged in, but it just boots to a black screen. I've tried moving the card to the other pcie slots, changing the ram sticks into other slots, and nothing works. It just boots to a black screen.

The moniter I have has a vga, 2 HDMI, and a display port, and ive tried using all but the vga port, as my graphics card does not have a vga port, only a div port. I've tried using all the ports on the moniter, and nothing is working, it just boots to a black screen. I can't load my OS onto the computer cause I can't see the options.

Please, please help. I'm at my wits end and I cannot figure it out.

Solution

To clear the CMOS, unplug the computer, then remove the motherboards coin battery for 30 seconds and put it back in. That returns the BIOS to default settings, which should help your PC to boot successfully.

Rocktalkrock I haven't tried to boot without the card yet. I have tried booting with just 1 ram stick, both of them. And I don't know how to clear the CMOS
