Display won't work with new graphics card

I just got a new evga 750ti video card for my desk top because my display wouldn't work well it still won't boot up here are the parts
Amd phenom 2 quad core
An asrock 970 extreme 4 mobo
600 watt power supply
Evga 750 ti
New sshd 1 tb
And a disconnected DVD drive (May have been a short in the wires)
Any will would be great

Have you confirmed that the monitor itself hasn't died (eg try it on another PC)?

I use the monitor for my xbox have not tested the grapics card though but I got it Monday this week so should be fine from newegg

Don't assume anything just because of where you bought it. Just like any other vendor, Newegg don't test them, they only sell them. Faulty goods can come from anywhere no matter how famous the name.
