Displayport Issue GPU

Hello all,
After leaving my pc on for a good hour on its DisplayMode output, I came back to discover the port was not working. At first, I thought this was some issue created by resetting the CMOS (since I have an oldish ASROCK motherboard) but after I managed to reset it nothing happened. I then noticed that the computer was making it into its BIOS due to the code CE displayed on the motherboard. I then plugged in an HDMI cord and discovered it was working fine, just the DisplayPort was not working. Does anybody have any solutions? This PC was working impeccably for the past 3 weeks (ever since moving into my dorm) and out of nowhere, it stops. Specs shouldn't really matter but I have 2 ASUS ROG STRIX 1080s, an ASROCK Extreme6, and an Asus 144hz monitor.

Solution
Ive seen odd things occur with bad or poor quality displayport cables. Its often best to try the most easy and inexpensive solutions first.

I would not understand why a perfectly good cable would go bad for some reason after weeks of productive use.. but I guess I'll give it a shot. Additionally, one of my buddies had a really old quadro lying around that he put in my pc to test for other issues and we used the exact same DisplayPort cord and it worked fine.
