I have two monitors connected to my PC:
The main display is connected to my PC via DisplayPort and to my consoles via HDMI. I frequently switch the input on the main display between HDMI (for consoles) and DisplayPort (for PC).
This used to work seamlessly—switching back to DisplayPort would immediately restore my Windows session without issue.
Nothing in my hardware setup has changed.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what might be causing it or how to fix it?
- Main display: ASUS ROG PG248Q (used for both PC and consoles)
- Secondary display: LG monitor (PC only)

Now, on Windows 10, when I switch back to DisplayPort:
- The screen first fills up with my Windows theme color.
- Then both screens go black.
- Windows freezes briefly.
- Then I hear the “device connected” sound, and everything returns to normal.
Nothing in my hardware setup has changed.
