Displayport to HDMI not working.

I have a Sabertooth Z87 motherboard and I'm using the onboard graphics. An HDMI cable is going to my pc monitor, which works, and a Displayport to HDMI cable to my tv for XBMC. No signal is detected on the tv. I've tried updating the intel drivers and I even just bought an active displayport to hdmi adapter to make sure it's not the passive cable. Nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?

Yep. Sounds like a hardware issue. May need to RMA the motherboard. What a pain in the arse! Sorry
Which operating system are you using?
Which VGA drivers for the onboard graphics do you have installed?
Have you tested the displayport to HDMI connection on your pc monitor? Does it get the signal?

Thanks for the quick reply. The cable doesn't work for my monitor either. I've installed the Intel HD Graphics 4600 drivers. I'm using Windows 8.1

1. Your displayport output on the motherboard could be faulty (hardware) or not properly setup (software).
2. Or, the cabling/adapters you are using are not working properly. If there is any way you can test a displayport cable to a device that has a displayport input to rule out scenario 2?

I've already tried this. It doesn't detect another monitor to duplicate to. The converter doesn't have a power cord. I believe it's powered by the comp. I have a displayport to hdmi cable and a displayport to hdmi converter. Both not working

I don't unfortunately. I'm wondering if I need to change anything in the BIOS. I built this computer myself. Maybe I forgot to plug something in...First self-built computer

That's alright. I don't think it is a BIOS setting but you can check your manual just in case.

Go here: http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_Z87/HelpDesk_Download/
And look under VGA.

Do you have this driver installed?
Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver V10.18.10.3262 for Windows Win8.1 64bit---(WHQL).

Also, make sure this is installed:
Intel_Graphics_Win7_8_VER918103262_x64

Yeah, I have newer drivers installed. You think I should revert to those?

Which CPU are you using?
Are you using a discrete graphics card in addition to the onboard video?

I haven't installed another video card yet. Just using onboard graphics

Hello... The term "ACTIVE" means it needs to be Power'd by something... Typical units might use a USB cable +5vdc or seperate Wall connected PS to the unit.
The term "Passive" means no Power connection is needed.
"Active" is typically used for stronger and longer cable sends.
I always find better success using the last HDMI port of a TV when sending a 1080P signal to them.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought the one I bought was active for some reason. I'm not even sure if I need an active connection...not sure if my displayport is DP++ or not. I can't find that info anywhere. Just thought I would give it a try. I might order one online
