[SOLVED] DisplayPort to HDMI working on Monitor not on TV

I got a cheap HP T620 to use for TV Streaming, installed Win7 and bought a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter cable
to hook it up to a Philips 37pfl7403d.

With my HP monitor it works flawlessly, but on the TV I get no Signal.

Does this mean I need an active adapter?
Why does it work on the monitor then?

Monitors can auto-detect the active input port but usually not so with a TV.

So you may have to go into TV setup menu and select HDMI

I already selected the HDMI as source and also tried all three HDMI ports. No luck.

Also, connecting my laptop via HDMI -> HDMI works without problems.

Then you may need to purchase an "Active" DP to HDMI adapter cable if your existing adapter cable is the cheaper passive type. Active ones are more expensive as they have an integrated signal converter (DP uses a different signalling system to HDMI and an active adapter makes the required conversion which a passive adapter cannot do).

Ah, ok then. The cable was already at 25€, so I thought it would be enough. I'll get an active converter then.
