Silly question here, but I just want to confirm before I buy stuff. My graphics card is an Asus gtx 970. It has 1 x DVI-I, 1 x DVI-D, 1 x HDMI, 1 x DisplayPort. I have one monitor which is currently using the HDMI port on my graphics card. I would like to buy another monitor that only has HDMI and no displayport because they are cheaper.

My question is would able to buy something like this: "https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Plated-DisplayPort-Cable-Black/dp/B00Z05JMKO/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1476388273&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=displayport+to+hdmi&psc=1" to convert my disiplayport signal from my graphics card into my hdmi monitor? Or does this require some kind of special converter or something?

Sorry for all the fluff.
My basic question is how can I convert diplayport output into HDMI input?

Thanks in advance for helping!

I'd recommend DVI to HDMI as well. Displayport and HDMI support audio as well as video. So if you're using a DP->HDMI adapter, there's a chance you could run into annoying problems with your computer trying to pipe your audio to nonexistent speakers on your monitor. It's generally not a problem with a straight HDMI or straight DP connection - the computer properly detects that the monitor has no speakers and doesn't try to redirect audio. But I've encountered flakiness with this detection when using an adapter.

It is really easy to fix the audio problem by disabling it in Nvidia control panel. I prefer Displayport because of higher resolution and FPS.
