Question DisplayPort to VGA is working, but HDMI is not

I'm in a very weird situation. My graphics card has one HDMI and three DisplayPorts. The HDMI port died in a thunderstorm two months ago - that's a different story. However, I was using two monitors just fine using a DisplayPort to HDMI and a DisplayPort to VGA converter. Last week, the monitor connected through DisplayPort to HDMI wouldn't turn back on after the device resumed from sleep. In fact, the PC was only recognizing one monitor was connected. So, I changed the port to the third one, and it worked fine.

The same thing happened again yesterday. The monitor wouldn't turn back on after sleep, and the port no longer detected the HDMI-connected monitor at all.

The interesting thing is that the ports work perfectly fine with the DisplayPort to VGA converter. So, it seems the issue lies with the DisplayPort to HDMI connection.

Do you have any clues on how I can get them working again with HDMI?

Thanks in advance!

Notes:

1. Graphics card model: Gigabyte GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming 6G
2. I've tried using a different DisplayPort to HDMI converter and cable.
3. I've also tested with different monitors.
4. I've ensured that the latest display driver has been installed.

many of the available converters online are very cheaply manufactured and distributed by unreliable companies.

likely this DP > HDMI converter has malfunctioned and/or all out failed.

contact whoever you purchased from for a refund.
or contact the manufacturer directly for a replacement.

That particular DP to HDMI converter is working just fine with the last available port on my graphics card. I've also tried using another functioning Active DP to HDMI converter. The result was the same. So, I can't say that the converter is the culprit.

also possible that some of your DP ports themselves have been physically damaged and these certain adapters just can not sit correctly in the port.

do you have a display that actually handles DP input that you can try a real DP>DP cable with?
