[SOLVED] Displayport

So I just got a display port cable and I did not know about the 20 pin problem with them and damaging graphics cards. Is there a way to tell if pin 20 is connected or not? I don't have a voltage meter with me so I can't try that. I just don't want it to damage my new GPU. This is the cable I got.

I don't think this has been an issue for a number of years now?

Even when it was a bit of an issue, it was cables based on the first DP spec, IIRC.... and only remained an issue through cheap, generic DP cables for a while.

I would not be concerned about any cable that's been manufactured in the past.. I don't know, 5 years?
Especially not a cable from any brand with some form of a reputation - such as Tripp Lite.

I have a MSI 27in curved monitor that is rated for 165Hz and 1ms response time. Will there be any trouble with this cable limiting my monitor?

144Hz 165Hz is the upper end of the DP1.2 specification so no, that cable should serve you perfectly.

I have one more question. I plugged in the DisplayPort cable and turned HDR on and also turned G-sync and AMD free sync on my monitor. I started playing call of duty and I noticed that the refresh rate was changing a ton and I noticed that my screen looked like it was almost flickering because of this. Is this normal or is there a problem with my settings?

Also, I have kinda been doing some searching and is my monitor g-sync compatible or will it only work with an AMD GPU?
