I have a gated entrance that is 225 meters from the home, Obviously wifi won't work in relationship to wifi signal. but can I install a wifi unit and use cable back to the property. (power at gate) need to monitor with camera,sound, and switching lock. ?? what to use.

If you have a clear line-of-sight you could use a pair of outdoor bridges. Something like this -- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833168115 You put one on the outside of the house facing the gate and one on the gate facing the house. Since you have power at the gate you can do this.

The house unit could be placed at the roofline to get around the line of sight problems. Use outdoor rated ethernet cable to connect the outdoor units. The units are POE powered, so only one cable is required. They come with POE injectors or you could use a POE switch for the home unit.

I would recommend, if you choose to do this, that you setup BOTH units at the house. Put a wired laptop on the "gate" unit and work through the configs until you can surf the web on that laptop. Then it is just a matter of installation.

If you like these units, you can also add one for coverage of your pool/patio (assuming that is on a different side of the house). Instead of configuring as a wireless bridge, you would configure as a wireless access point.
