So I have a Vizio HDTV capable of 1920x1080 that I am using as a second monitor that has distorted text and fine edges no matter what resolution or refresh rate I try, meanwhile my first monitor (which is an actual computer monitor also in 1920x1080) has no issues. I have tried Cleartype which did not really help (even when disabled entirely), it just ended up making the distorted text more bold looking. I found that the scaling options were somewhere closer to the 15% margin in CCC, so I quickly changed that to 0% and reset the tv's height and width settings to default (0) but the desktop was outside of the actual visual space of the TV, so with the H/V settings at 0 I set the scaling to the closest I could get it to the size on my monitor, and adjusted the H/V to fill the miniscule amount of space left. While doing this I closely watched the text in the background to see if at any point during the process the text seemed to be more clear. Sadly, it did not. I tried the GPU scaling options on and off to no avail. I have tried every "tick" of the sharpness slider on the TV's settings itself. The TV does not have a "Just Scan" option or anything like it, actually the settings on the TV itself seem to be very limited.
On the other hand, consoles such as PS3 and Xbox360 look clear as can be with no issues using the same exact HDMI cable. So I know that the TV itself is not faulty. I would have thought maybe it was the fact that the PS3 uses 720p mostly, but I tried that resolution previously and it did not help.
I am beginning to lose hope of having the TV ever display text correctly. The TV itself has fantastic colors and is very vivid for being an LCD and if I can fix this I would like to switch to using it as my main display.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Messing with a custom DPI helped the issue a little but none of the settings make the text clear or sharp.
