Hello everyone. I've tried looking through other threads on the forum regarding the ZTE H298A, and honestly, I haven't found answers to the questions on my mind. Some users here and on other forums mentioned activating the root account to get the device to distribute internet from another modem. However, with the latest update pushed by the internet service provider, you can no longer activate the root account. This is because the application that grants root access doesn't work due to a changed algorithm. I want to achieve this without root, and since my attempts haven't been successful, I decided to open this thread.
First, let me briefly explain my current setup with a diagram.
As you can see in the diagram, I can distribute the internet coming from the fiber line to my devices, both wired and wirelessly. However, last month I purchased an Orange Pi R1 Plus LTS device and installed the OpenWrt operating system on it. After installing the Zapret software on this device, I gained access to uncensored internet. I then disconnected the Ethernet cable, which carries the internet connection from the ZTE modem, from my PC and plugged it into the WAN port of the Orange Pi device. I configured my Orange Pi device in OpenWrt to distribute the incoming internet connection. Following this, I connected the cable coming from the Orange Pi's LAN port to my PC, providing my PC with uncensored internet. But naturally, my phone and notebook connected to the ZTE modem via Wi-Fi are still using the censored internet.
My goal here is to connect the fiber internet cable coming from the building directly to my Orange Pi device. Then, by leveraging OpenWrt + Zapret, I want to deliver uncensored internet to my ZTE modem so it can distribute it both wired and wirelessly. I've illustrated my desired system in the diagram below.
After making the necessary settings (PPPoE) in OpenWrt, I connected the fiber cable coming from the building to my Orange Pi device's WAN port. Then, when I directly connected the Ethernet cable, which carries the uncensored internet, from my Orange Pi device's LAN port to my notebook, I was able to open applications like Discord on the notebook. This means I could use my Orange Pi device exactly as intended. However, as I mentioned, I haven't quite figured out the steps to configure the ZTE modem. Some sources suggested disabling the DHCP feature on the ZTE modem, claiming it wouldn't work otherwise, but doing so prevents my phone or notebook from getting a proper IP address or connecting to the internet.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
