DIY Ethernet hub?

Hi. My old Zyxel 5 port ethernet switch death. Is there any way to make own hub?

I found schematic that using diodes, but it works only for max. 3 devices, i need 5.

Firstly, hubs only work for 10Mb/s ethernet, and have to be half duplex.

That schematic won't work because it connects all the transmit wires together, and all the receive wires together. So you transmit, and it gets to all the other devices' transmit pins... but they're listening on received.

Pick up a proper ethernet switch for <$10. 24 diodes would probably cost that much off the street.

Uh....

Possibly, if you didn't need the LAN PCs to talk to each other, and the cabling from the 'hub' to the PCs was very short. You'd get stupid numbers of collisions on upstream traffic, though, and the PCs couldn't detect it. I don't think it would work.

Seriously, shell out the $10.
