i ment more like what cpu how much ram, can you flash it. i want it to be able to handle torrents

A) These devices have a set amount of RAM that is not upgradeable. The CPUs are not anything you may easily recognize.

B) If the company releases a firmware update, then yes you can, but don't expect them to allow you to re-flash it to an open-sourced based project so it can act as a torrent box.

C) Download your 'torrents' to your PC, then transfer over to the unit after. .torrent files are not large in size by themselves. The media in which they reference are what you meant, correct?

http://wiki.dns323.info/ this is about the 323 I'm sure there is quiet a difference but maybe some good starting points for you.... I have the 323 with 2 500GB JBODs and LOVE it. I plan to pick up another and throw 2 1TB in raid 1 mawahahah
