Is it possible to mod this box to support 4tb drives?

I have put the drive into the 1st bay, and the NAS will recognize it. It even shows the correct capacity, and will display the "SMART" results for the drive.

If I try to format it, it initializes to 100%, formats to 100%, and then the NAS just stops. It actually loses connection to the network.

If I attempt a shutdown by holding down the power button, it gets stuck saying the system is halting. I have left it for almost 20 hours, and it still had not shut down.

I really would like to get 4tb support with this box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your help in advance...

Thanks everyone,

I am aware of the "Supported" drives, and official firmware for the device. It is only officially supporting up to 3TB drives.

I was hoping someone had done a mod to make this work with 4TB drives.

I have learned that D-Link is not the way to go with NAS, and will be selling this device in favor of Synology devices for the future.

Thanks again...
