DNS server not responding but other devices are connected and working.

I switched my set up around today and all of a sudden I'm having this issue when it was never a problem before. My phone Is connected to the WiFi and it's working as fast as ever but my laptop and desktop are telling me " The DNS server isn't responding". Exact words.

Laptop is a 3 year old Dell. I couldn't tell you the make and model. Only that it wasn't having this problem until I reconnected the router and modem.

Desktop is a Lenovo C20-05 - F0B3005BUS. Connection was wired previously but it would also connect to WiFi without issue if I moved it to another room.

Can you provide more information with respect to "reconnected the router and modem"?

Is DHVP (DHCP) actually blank or quote marks? If so, go in and change the network adapter DHCP Server to 192.168.1.1

Did you just "power off" or did you do factory resets?

What make and model is the modem? Same question for the router.

Double check the network physical connections. Make sure all connections are snuggly in place and secure.

Should be something like this:

ISP ------ coax cable ---->Modem [ethernet port]-----ethernet cable ---->[WAN Port] Router [LAN ports] ----ethernet cables----> to wired devices. Wireless to wireless devices.

All devices receiving their IP address via the router's DHCP IP address settings.

Ensure that the laptop and desktop have only either the wired or wireless adapter enabled. Not both.

Modem and router information is important. Especially if the modem is actually a modem/router.
