Hi all,

This problem has been been posted before, but I have not found a clear fire
way on fixing it.

I have a simple domain 1 forest, 1 domain 2 domain controllers.

DNS runs as DDNS.

DHCP serves addresses properly.

However I get the ever famous DNS Update Failed in my DHCP server logs.

all other aspects of DNS seem to work. I'll post my ipconfig /all from my
DC to begin with, but any other suggestions or things you need posted, please
ask.

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : pdns
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : whitmont.com
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : whitmont.com

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-0B-DB-96-0C-0A
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.21
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.128
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.2
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.21
192.168.27.21
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled

Can anyone make any suggestions? Oh.. and we don't use WINS at all, DNS is
our only connection method.

You will need to assign a dedicated user account in DHCP (On the server
properties sheet, Advanced tab) for the DHCP server to authenticate with the
DNS server.

That didn't help. we still have tons of lines of DNS Update Failed Errors in
the logs.

What else can I try?
