Question Do 4 pin fan extension cables slow down the fan ?

1. Does the fan speed decrease when you use the fan with an extension cable ? The extension cable increases resistance ?

2. Whats the difference between an ordinary extension cable and Noctua's low noise adapter ?

Do NOT use the Low Noise Adapter if your fans are plugged into a mobo header that automatically controls fan speed. That device is simply a small resistor to reduce the voltage supplied to the fan so it runs slower and quieter but making LESS cooling. It is only useful if you must connect your fan directly to a fixed 12 VDC power source like the PSU.
