Do all-electric cars last longer?

Electric motors in cars tend to be pretty complex. They're extremely high voltage and pretty much non serviceable by the user. As in without the proper gear, proper gloves (inspected before each use) etc, touching the wrong component can be fatal. Batteries can die and are very expensive to replace in most instances. It's a different approach but not necessarily simpler or longer lasting.

I dealt with more than one customer that didn't charge their car often enough, the batteries drained and they had to have them serviced be dealer only equipment that took days to solve. Quite expensive as well.
