Do cable extensions matter about compatibility?

So I have a EVGA GS psu and the sleeved cable sets only work with the G2 (I have no idea why honestly...) But would extensions work around the "Compatibility" issue?

Are you concerned about sleeves or no sleeves?
As long as the extensions are a mating type of the same type of connection, then you're fine.. they are compatible and have to use the same voltages. As long as the connections are of decent quality, you should have no issues.

I want sleeved cables, and how do I make sure I have those things, by same type of connection do you mean 8-pin to 8-pin, or something different?
