Do documents save anywhere when you click 'open' instead of 'save' online?

I opened a document at work which I am now looking to locate.

I didn't make any changes to the document, it was just a .mp3 file I opened from a website, listened to and closed without saving.

I can't find a Temp folder, which I assume is because I'm not an Admin. Is it possible it wasn't saved in Temp?

We use Internet Explorer if that makes any difference.

Much of the time, when the browser opens something, it saves it in the browser cache somewhere, often as a nondescript file name. If the content is streamed rather than a regular file open, then the content may or may not exist locally depending on what gets done with the link.

If you didn't save it, it does not exist on your system.
There may (or may not) be some remnants in Temp. But not guaranteed.
