So I just upgraded my system to i7 6700k and when I first started the system idle its at 20ish and when I started downloading the temp went 40-50 is this normal? I haven't tried to play any games yet because I'm downloading. I fear my cup would blow up when I play games

That's possible, just a simply down load even of a large file should have little to no affect on CPU temps, if using a download manger (or something like that can actually tax the CPU a little, that's why I was asking if anything else going on/running 😉

Probably OP is using Origin to download these games, it has a common problem that when downloading games its CPU usage goes very high on some cores.
