Hello,my friend got a new pc and he is trying to install the drivers for the WiFi adapter but his disk drive does not show anywhere.could i put his hard drive in my pc and install the drivers that way?

I'm guessing you mean when he puts the CD/DVD into the disk drive nothing happens - can he plug the PC into the router using ethernet so he can download the drivers from the net?

The longer I contemplate what exactly could be going on here, the less sense it all makes. I stopped when I pictured them at the "insert a bootable media or restart" screen trying to figure out what button starts the wifi install.

In seriousness, though, I think I get what's going on. Your DVD drive isn't showing up in computer, so you can't run the CD from it. No problem, just link the name of the wifi adapter, and we can get the driver from the internet if you want, and you can transfer it via flash drive, or plug his pc in to the router via ethernet and do it all there.

Edit: Also, you want to take a peek inside the case, make sure all the cords leading to and from the dvd drive actually plug into something. It sounds like there's a problem with it, either not plugged in or the driver is bad and you'll need to find it in device manager, uninstall, then scan for hardware changes.

he has windows installed i but when he put the wifi adapter in and the tries to put the disk in nothing on his screen shows up to install the driver.but could i put his hard drive into my pc and the put the wifi adapter and disk in my pc and install the drivers on my pc.but would the drivers install to his hdd.so putting his hdd and adapter into my pc then install the drivers off the disk after putting his hdd and adaper in my pc then putting the disk in and installing the driver onto his hdd?but doin it on my pc woth his hdd and adapter

what if i took my hdd out? only his hdd on the pc and boot of his hdd?

You still have not described/determined the actual problem that is preventing driver install on the correct PC.

Put the hard drives back where they are supposed to be
From another PC, download all the drivers you need.
Save these on a USB stick.
Start up the problematic PC.
Insert the USB stick
Open File Explorer

Do you see the C drive? Do you see the USB stick as a drive letter? What happens?
