I would know that a good mouse is EXTREMELY important in FPS gaming. When I switched from a stock dell mouse to a Logitech G502, my average score in Counter Strike:GO nearly TRIPLED. But how would a better keyboard help? From what I've seen, Mechanical Keyboards seem to be quite important. Nearly all professional players use them? Why is this? The only thing I can think of is a better experience. You definitely get a smoother and easier experience using a good keyboard.

I could understand how important they were if you were playing StarCraft or some strategical game. However, when you're playing MOBA/FPS, the keyboard isn't important?? I may be horribly wrong. What are your opinions/experiences?

Do gaming keyboards affect your game performance?

From my experience in gaming, especially fps, the mouse makes the biggest difference. A very superb choice of mouse, by the way. The next difference maker is the headset you're using. A good headset would allow you to pinpoint your enemies location with better soundstage. Better sound quality would only enrich your gaming experience.

The keyboard is one that's not as big of deal to me. A basic ps2 keyboard will do as well as many 'gaming' membrane keyboard until you start to spend more on features like macro key, at which point I would just suggest you saving up more to splurge on a mechanical keyboard. Most gamers prefer the cherry mx red, not that clicky and you could mash the keys halfway through. For some backlighting features...

So from what you're saying you want a Cherry MX Red/Black keyboard. They have more comfort that of a membrane board. I personally find the my MX Blue board helps me type at twice the speed of a membrane and sounds/looks amazing. How much are you willing to spend?

For some backlighting features you're going to spend even more, so when and if you have that extra money, you can decide to go all out on them.
