I just bought 2 7970s on eBay. Used. I hate buying used stuff but I could not for the life of me find them new and not at an insane price. These video cards are already 2 years old

I wish them to last me at least another 3 years before I will be upgrading them. Is this feasible?

Solution
They don't really , as long as the previous didn't overclock and overheat the shit out of it , But you should be fine , Just make sure that these card's G3D Mark score is above 5123.
Download PassMark Performance Test 8.0 for checking it's average G3D mark.
The PassMark Performance Test will also test all your other hardware components and rate them.
Best of Luck.

How can I know if he did?

Also the seller did not personally own the cards. However according to the pictures, the cards still have the plastic on them (the film that you take off after you buy the card, the one on the cooler) so I have a feeling they maybe new? However he does not have the boxes. So I don't know what to think.

what do you think I meant by mistreat? guy yesterday purchased 2 280's having troubles with them........... who knows what you get............ the used market is like a box of chocolate..........................

Hi , Sorry for the late reply , Ask the owner to give you temps reading under load and without load , personally contact him , also make sure of the G3D Mark score , other than that , make sure the card isn't broken , Hardware Stuff barely gets old If used properly , There is no "AGE" in Hardware.
Best of Luck.
