I just got a Razer Deathadder today, which so far I really like, but I have to use it on my old solid, rough textured mouse pad, and was wondering if that will wear down the feet of the mouse quickly. I'm just trying to decide whether to go to Best Buy tomorrow and pick up a Steel Series cloth pad or keep this one. So, could it damage my new mouse? Thanks in advance.

Solution
I have an old Rocketfish hard double sided mouse pad, Rough on one side and smooth on the other, and the Razer DeathAdder 2013 and never had an issue. Before this mouse I had the original Deathadder, mouse died before the feet wore out, and had no issues with the feet wearing out. Just FYI Razer sells new feet for there mice including yours.

Oh, I didn't realize that they sell new feet. Are they of the same quality as the regular ones already on the mouse, and are they easy to replace and put on?

So, there is no advantage to using a hard pad over a soft one?

they are the same exact feet you have OR you can also order different ones depending on what you want. The replacement feet come with a backing you just peel off and stick the feet on. It's kind of like double sided sticky tape but better adhesive.

As for the difference between the 2 mats is what you prefer and how they feel. The cloth ones seem to stick more and seem to make it harder to move the mouse IMO. The hard mats are usually slicker allowing for the mouse to slide easier. I have used both and these are just my observations between the two. They also make mouse mats that stick to the desk kind of like tac paper and are usually quite large to allow for lots of movement and customization.

EDIT: here is a link tot eh feet. You can find them cheaper than this though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2RY2T30716&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Mice-_-9SIA2RY2T30716&gclid=CjwKEAjwyemvBRDFpN3E5_bs9BQSJAA5n8L2WBF6vd_n1zXfU4wCoeKtQoxJyr0IeFE2bGj1t5Ug7RoCt_Dw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

That is a matter of preference. Some people like the hard smooth pads for gaming and others like the soft cloth one for precise control for photoshop editing etc...
If you play fast paced twitch shooter style games you can be a fraction of a second faster with the hard smooth pads.

Okay, I think I'll just stick with the hard mouse pad for now and if I feel like it, I'll go pick up a soft pad down sometime. Sorry, but one more final question. Are the Steel Series soft pads decent? I've read that the Razer ones are better but everywhere I look they are way more expensive. So, If I get a soft pad, Steel Series will do?
