Hello.

I have recently bought an EVGA GTX 1080 SC, and i feel like i might have a bottleneck somewhere since its FPS performance in games is not really where i feel like it should be. Here is the rest of my rig:

- CPU: i7 4770k slightly oc'ed to 4,3 ghz
- PSU: 1000w platinum seasonic
- RAM: 16 gb 2000+ mhz (not quite sure) kingston
- MOBO: Asus z87-a

When im running a game like Project cars on max settings at 1080p i get around 40-80 FPS depending on the weather and things like that. When i look at the benchmark on tomshardware it says i should get 120 FPS in 1440p with this graphics card. Also, i have a 4k tv monitor, and when i play games on that, the fps doesnt seem to change that much from when i play in full HD.

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening? I feel like there should not be anything bottlenecking the GPU, but it doesnt make sense to me.

Im playing 1080p on my desktop monitor and in 4k on my tv monitor, the 1440p was an example of the resolution tomshardware had tested the GPU in :)

How is the performance and FPS gain in 1080p? Also i think Project CARS is a badly optimized game for PC.

I plan to buy a GTX 1080 soon, my processor is i7 4770 @ 3.4 GHz (Non K), do you think my CPU will bottleneck GTX 1080?.

I think in project cars the performance gain was about 20-30 fps, im not quite sure though as i dont quite remember the settings i ran with the gtx 970. I dont think your cpu would bottleneck, but again im not 100% sure.

Im using a coolermaster seidon 120m liquid cooler, ive been monitoring temps and its never gone above 70 degree c when gaming.

Is it maxing out the GPU usage when gaming?

Nope, if i remember correctly GPU usage goes up to about 60-70%. :)
