Hello All,

I'm not a techie guy but I built my pc last year and from that time I was having problem like "Out of video memory trying to allocate rendering resource". I researched online and got to know that intels 13th n 14th gen had some problem and probably mine was one of em. At that time I was not able to do RMA as I needed my machine for work. Now after BIOS update and intel default settings most things started to run like games and all but there are still some crashes like unreal engine (will attach below). Recently I started playing PUBG and while I'm playing game my whole pc sometimes just restarts on its own. I did prime95 test and it gives me error like hardware failure. (I re-run the test and the timing for error is different and I cant run the test for 24h so I stop after 10-15mins and there are no error until that).

Crash.png
Crash_2.png

FATAL ERROR: Final result was 922A259E, expected: 87610A79.
Hardware failure detected running 288K FFT size, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test completed 1 tests in 1 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Worker stopped.

After reading online I came to know that this can be due to faulty RAMs so I run memtest86 and got 5 errors in that too(attached ss). Should I RMA my ram sticks too or my CPU is only defective ? My RAM xmp was enabled while I run the test.

My PC specs are :-

CPU - i7 14700K
GPU - Zotac 3060 RTX
Mobo - MSI z790 tomahawk max wifi ddr5
Ram - G skill trident z5 7200Mhz
PSU - Corsair 80+ Gold 850W RM
Cooler - Noctua Nh - DH15 Chromax ( Adding during prime test my temps reach 100degress Celsius)

Please help me out as I am really frustrated now

It's still possible to have faulty or deteriorated CPU. RAM controller is in it.

Mobo - MSI z790 tomahawk max wifi ddr5

Cooler - Noctua Nh - DH15 Chromax ( Adding during prime test my temps reach 100degress Celsius)
Your mobo is probably still running the CPU overclocked, you should go into bios and look what the CPU tab looks like.
All of these issues can come from too high an overclock.
Also XMP is overclock for the ram and the ram controller so make sure to try lower xmp settings or turning it off even to see if your ram passes then.

If it has been hitting the 100C for a period of time, you probably do want to RMA it. Yet you might want to experiment a little with it before doing so. Update the bios first on your MOBO. After that, take a look at this thread - post 50, and all of the links there. I had to do these adjustments to my 14600K. Mine never really reached 100C like yours because I was aware of the issue and the potential damage, but the changes described in the videos and especially the Reddit link tuned mine to pretty high levels.

The reason I say play with it before RMA'ing it is simply because you have some time left in the warranty to do so that AND there's no telling what they replace the CPU with - it could be another 14700K. So knowing what to do with it when you get it and not allowing it to get to that 100C level is crucial.

Good luck.

Hello Thanks for the reply, I have checked it and my cpu is running at intel default and there was a option like game boost in bios but i have never enabled it and when I disabled my xmp the test memtest passed and when i enabled xmp and ran the test if failed again with 7 errors. What should i conclude with this ?

Hello all,

I have run some more memtest and one time I ran the test without xmp enabled and that time memtest passed then again with xmp on then again my memtest failed with like 7 errors. So what should this means ??? My Ram is ok but not CPU ?

Hello Thanks for the reply. Yes I have time to do RMA, mine is air cooler and I read that during stress test it will reach 100C if you dont do heavy video rendering things then noctua nh-d15 was great but should I reconsider and buy an avg AIO? Can you tell me what is undervolt and how it will affect the performance of my CPU ? I'm sorry I'm new to this

Running at 100 is within specs and does not warrant an rma.
Also it's not even a sign of the CPU having been hurt/damaged, you can have it running at 60 with bad settings that will hurt it a lot more then if it runs at 100 with good settings.
temps during idle is around 40-50C while I play games its around 75-90C and some games while creating shaders reach 100C n when its done its goes back to 80s around but when I run like prime test or cinebench it reaches n stays 100C while the test runs. I have read online that for air coolers its normal to reach 100 while heavy load but im not sure. Suggest me what could be done. (Will RMA CPU definitely as the issue is from day1).

You said that the bios is on intel defaults but I would upload some pics showing exactly what settings are used so that people can see if there is anything you can improve.
According to gamers nexus your cooler should keep the 14700k at 50 degrees if you stay with the 250W that is the limit of the 14700k so your mobo might be juicing the CPU to 300+ watts

Hello, when I run cinebench CPU (Multi core) here are the stats for the things i don't know that there is anything wrong with it (except for the temps). Can ya'll look at this and tell me.

Reinstall cpu cooler, replace thermal paste.
Those are not normal temperatures for Nh-DH15.

BTW - what model pc case are you using?
Can you show a photo of your system with side panel removed?

BTW - what BIOS version are you running currently?
Check with CPU-Z - motherboard section.

hello almost some months back I thought too that i didn't applied the cooler and paste correctly so I did again. But it didn't helped me at all.
My Bios is up to date till now (forgot the version but in the website it is the latest one). My pc case is DEEPCOOL CH560 DIGITAL. attaching the photo as you wished for.

Before this dust it was still going very high so dust is not one of the factor. My second fan is a little bit above as the RAM is getting in the way so I have seen on website that I can apply this fan a little height to give ram clearance.

BTW - your cpu is overclocked.
PL1 should be 125W.
You have PL1 at 253W.

You do not have Intel safe defaults loaded.
Hello Thanks a lot for pointing out this thing I never know that it should be 125W. I opened my BIOS to confirm it but I don't know why its showing in intel default settings in 253W. Can you help me in this too. I have shared some screenshots hope it helps you. Sorry to be a bother I have no clue about volt and all.

Hello All,

I have manually change PL1 to 125W (didn't touched anything) and now when I test in cinebench CPU multi core - for like 5 secs temps are 100C then it goes to 80C and stays there. Adding that game crash is still there as I opened horizon zero dawn and at the starting the game crashed 2 times with the same error as I have uploaded at the start. But the third time the game started and run like normal (I dont know what to conclude from that), I will possibly do RMA as I had problem from long time that might have damaged my CPU in any way.

This is while I'm running the test.

PL1=PL2 has been approved by intel for generations now, it's their highest setting but still within specs, it's not overclock as long as all the other settings are also kept in spec.

Did you make sure the air flow is correct?
If the CPU cooler blows to the opposite direction the case cooler are blowing then that would make cooling a lot harder.
Also from the top we cant see how much dust is in the fins of the cooler if it is blocking the air there is no cooling.

Hiii,

Yes Im sure the air flows is correct the air comes from front and goes outside from back. The middle 2 fans are taking air from front side n sending in back both of em. So I dont think thats the issue. And the dust is not that much trust me and when my comp was new and everything was shiny this temp prob was still there !!

According to this both Pl1 n pl2 can be 241W am I right or got anything wrong ? As suggested above I changed pl1 to 125W. In my BIOS when I select intel default then its written 253W infront of it? (As i have shared ss above) Is it wrong ?
