hello, well just a few laptops have a replaceable video card, MXM are the module for this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_PCI_Express_Module

i saw your laptop info and i read this : Type of graphics (video) adapter (usually built into the motherboard),

that means its almost sure you have an onboard video card built in into the motherboard. so you cant replace it, and replacing a video card in a laptop is very delicated cause of the wattage it consumps, the MXM slot is specified by the consumption of the video card lets suppose the 7970m has a 100 watts consumption if you will put a higher, ( its an example cause i think there no video card that has a greater consumption, gtx680m and 7970m has 100 watts )
if you put a higher consumption video card in this MXM slot your laptop might get burn or the video card itself, this sony vaio is cool enjoy it.

well actually i'm planning on getting a PE4H V3.2 (PCIe x16 Adapter) and it comes with a separate power supply for the graphics card. I don't quite have the courage to try to fully replace the graphics card that I have in my laptop, I just want something that I can plug in when I get home and boost my gaming performance.
