Do I have to maintain and clean a cpu watercooler? And if so how often should i do it?

I am planning on making a pc. This will be my first watercooled pc so i dont know anything about it. I am wondering if i have to take care of my watercooler or can i just leave it alone?

If it's a closed-loop cooler (CPU-only single, all-in-one unit), all you'd have to do is clean the radiator itself off every few months (I recommend a pull configuration since you won't have to remove a fan to clean the radiator). If it's an open-loop - contains a pump, reservoir, radiator(s) and waterblock(s) for your CPU and/or GPU, then you would have to empty and refill the loop every 6-12 months depending on the coolant/anti-algae you use.

For a custome loop , drain, flush and refill every 6 months. Neglecting to do this usally kills the pump.
For a all in one cooler just blowing out the rad as needed, this is what I would recomend unless your going to do the mainteance on the other.
