If you were to go for a higher refresh rate panel, the experience is undoubtedly much better, feels more responsive and smooth. If you're going to be using your 60hz monitor display for gaming after getting used to the monitor then you're going to feel a huge difference and might even struggle to use the 60hz panel later on. My best recommendation is to try out 144hz and see for yourself the difference, but personally it's undoubtedly something that I can't give up when gaming now.
Essentially, you might struggle changing between different refresh rates but if you won't game too much outside of home it won't be an issue. Best thing i'd say is get a high refresh rate laptop as those are quite often relatively cheap, with a slight premium, but the experience is well worth it. Even a 120hz will do.
