Hi all,

I'm building a new system. I already have an 850w psu new in the box that was gifted to me. But I'm worried it won't be enough. Here's what I'm looking at:

  • Threadripper 3970x
  • 128 GB 3733 ram
  • Nvidia 2080TI
  • 6 pcie4 m.2 SSD's
  • 2 SATA SSD's
  • 2 SATA HDD's
  • Elgato 4K60Pro Capture Card
  • 6 or 7 USB devices
  • 4 Case Fans + CPU fan

I've tried using a few of the online psu calculators but a lot of this hardware is so new it hasn't been listed.

Do you think my 850w will be able to hold up under load? Or do I need to spend the money on a 1000w psu?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
That 850W PSU is an excellent PSU and would be enough to safely power that system at full load. You will likely be somewhere around 700-800W usage at full load. Not exactly optimal for an 850W PSU, but as I said that is an excellent PSU with a relatively linear efficiency curve and that PSU can handle more than 850W output. I might lean more towards a 1000W or even a 1200W PSU though sooner or later.
