I'm making a new computer ultimately for gaming and I can't decide if I want to buy a 60Hz monitor or 120Hz, if my build includes the i5-4670k and MSI GTX 770 w/ 600w corsair psu, would I see any screen tearing due to the FPS being above 60? Would it be better for me to go with a 120Hz monitor?

I had this in mind http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vh238h initially, but then changed to a computer that had IPS

So then I changed to this http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23987

or this http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/aoc-monitor-i2367fh

I just cannot pick which monitor to use, and I wanted it to stay around the initial range of $150 which is is already quite low for the price of monitors like this. If need be, I would probably go to $200

Haha, and who told you that you would get tearing if you have more the 60 fps on a 60Hz monitor ? :)

That really gave me a good laugh :)

120Hz + monitor = you can play in 3D :)
It has nothing to do with tearing or ghosting :) you can buy 120Hz or 144Hz monitors and still have these negative effects ;)

Yeah don't listen to this guy, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
Just go with the first monitor and turn vsync on.

Clearly aye ?

So basically what you are saying is that, if you have a game like Counter Strike:GO as an example,
and you play it on a 60hz monitor with let's say 250 frames without vsync, you will get a tearing effect ?

:D
