Do I need a better souindcard for 5.1?

So my souncard only has 3 holes on it and when I use my speakers (Logitech z506) the sound quite low even when it's all maxed everywhere, thanks for the help!

3 holes is enough when you're using 3.5mm jack , each jack carries 2 channels : Front left/right sub/center Rear left/right
what do you mean quite low? you mean there's not the sound expected?
can you try to use SPDIF or coax ?
if your sound card is USB try to connect it to another port , if it's PCI try to update the driver.

HDMI can also carry audio and can be used for surround sound. I used to run an HDMI cord from my video card to my RX-V379 Reciever and another from the reciever back to the monitor. However like ixeon stated, you can also try SPDIF if your MB or sound card has the port.
