i currently have a gtx 1060 3gb, i5 8400, 8gb 2666ram, with a 500w psu. I bought a vega 56 air boost do i need to buy a higher watt psu before installing? i game quite a bit.

I don’t know what psu I have because it’s a prebuilt pc. I just know it’s a 500w. Most of my specs are there. Do you need to know the motherboard?

Prebuilt PC's tend to have bad power supplies, with bare minimum quality for the other parts. I would suggest getting a reputable PSU since a Vega card is definitely more power-hungry than a 1060.

For a Vega 56, a 650 W PSU will be more than enough, 550 W is also fine but a little too close for comfort, plus let's assume some headroom for future upgrades as well, so a 650 W unit is what you should look for, preferably 80+ Gold or better, but then of course your budget will also be a constraint.
