you wouldn't need a BIOS update to support a newer card.ok so the cpu is fine now im still researching about the gpu but none of them shows what bios version i need
my psu is a 450w seasonic psu and the case has good airflowwhether you need one or not for CPU compatibility, you should update to the latest BIOS anyway.
especially with this much time having passed since the board was manufactured,
there are probably many system improvements and possibly other viable updates implemented.
you can check the motherboard manufacturer's product support page(s) for CPU compatibility and it will specify which BIOS iteration is necessary, if any, for each CPU.
you haven't listed your entire system specifications.
in a low-spec system that old, i'd be more worried about it's PSU being able to handle the upgrade. are you sure yours is powerful enough?
and there will be quite a bit more heat generated from the newer components. do you have adequate system-wide cooling in place?
Oh ok thank you.Based on the information found here:
https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Foxconn/H61MXV.html
Both processors require the same BIOS version: C12F1P04. No. A BIOS update should not be required.
Since Foxconn doesn't have a support page for that board (that I could find quickly), checking other sites seems to indicate that the BIOS version you have is the only/latest version).
