Do I need a cooler for GTX 780s?

Hey everybody. I am getting a pair of GTX 780s and will be running them in SLI mode. I am getting the SC versions from EVGA with the ACX aftermarket cooling system and I pln on overclocking them further. I am going to be running them right next to a 120 mm exaust fan. Will this be enough to expel the extra heat that they produce? Or should I just go with the stock version of the gtx 780? Would it's cooling system be enough to overclock? A watercooling loop is out of the question for me.

You need a new case son - or some hvy hole cutting and modding. That setup is not going to keep up with these cards - MAYBE one but not 2.

1) these cards need to be fed cool air to perform
2) they exhaust into the case, so you need solid case airflow to avoid compromising their performance, and thereby your mobo and cpu performance as well

Cards like this that exhaust into the case do well in cases with few open ventings, solid panels, top and back exhaust, front intake. That utilizes negative pressure airflow, convection currents, and maximizes your whole system cooling potential. Cases like this can be found for 50-60 easily. After spending that much on gpus, its a drop in the bucket to make sure they stay working

I have a 120mm intake fan in the side of my case and an 80mm exhaust fan on the back of the case, my psu also removes some heat as well with its fan. Keep in mind I can turn around the fans to make the intake at the back and the exhaust out of the side. Would this suffice?

I totally agree. I actually was looking at this computer case to order with these cards. Do you think this will do? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208057

With this case I would use the front 2 120mm fans as intake, and the top two 120mm fans as exhaust. There is also a rear 120mm fan vent. I was going to have a radiator for my cpu liquid cooling there and have the fan with it as an additional exhaust. Would this work? And if so, should the fan with the radiator be push or pull?

Only 2 fans in your whole case? Time to upgrade or you'll have overheating issues
