I've been looking into buying a good set of studio headphones lately and ended up purchasing some AudioTechnica ATH-m40x's

Since I will mainly be using these at home on my custom built PC, I was wondering if it would be a good investment to purchase a dedicated Soundcard, as I've heard frequently that they offer better sound than integrated on-board audio included on your motherboard.

I was thinking of getting the ASUS Xonar DG, since it fits within my budget.

Is it worth it? Will I benefit off this coming from my Maximux 7 Hero's "SupremeFX" audio?

Thanks.

Solution
On motherboards from $130ish tot he $215 hero, you have ALC1150 sound or "custom" variations of same that Gigabyte, Asus (Supreme FX) , MSI offer under their own branding. According to Asus, this sound is equivalent to their $70 Xonar

Thanks, I think i'll just stick to integrated after all, I don't think my headphones are powerful enough to take advantage of a Soundcard anyways... (35 OHMs)
