I have a x370 Asus strix f gaming motherboard and a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu, and I seen on pc part picker that I need a different cpu to update bios, is this true? I’m currently waiting on my cpu cooler so I’m haven’t started up the pc I built but will I be able to get in without updating bios or how does this work. Any help will be appreciated

Yes, unless the bios was already updated beforehand with an older Ryzen cpu, likely a 1000 series.

but will I be able to get in without updating bios or how does this work.
Not unless the above was already done.

1)Return the motherboard and do one of the following:
-get an X570 mobo. The Prime X570P is one of the better value X570s.
-get one of Msi's B450 MAX motherboards which support Ryzen 3000 out of the box. The other brands have them too, but Msi's are much easier to remember.

2)Bring your PC to a shop and have them update the bios for you - or, if you have a friend running an older Ryzen, have them loan you their cpu.

3)Request a boot kit from AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/rma-form
