[SOLVED] Do I need a driver?

I recently built a new PC and plugged in my earthnet cable and my internet worked straight away. Do I need to install a driver to make the cable faster or anything? I don't remember the cable working instantly like this on my old system, I think I had to download something for it to work?
Plugging earthenet into my pc and having internet right away was nice but do I need to do something more?

The LAN driver that is installed with Windows is fine.

Are you getting the speeds you're expecting?

The drivers that the motherboard manufacturer sends (or is on their website) is always recommended when building a new PC with a clean OS install. You did do a clean OS install, didn't you ?

Should be. Be warned, that 2.5GE network adapters have had a lot of problems. I would double check the manufacturer's website to see if they have an updated driver.
