My internet speed is 150-160Mbps and i have two gaming PC's me and my wife use plugged up by Ethernet and use a PS4 PRO and Samsung TAB S Wireless so in total we use only 4 devices. The router we got now tops out at 20Mbps.........lol it sucks. I thought if i plugged my PC's into it by Ethernet that it would bypass it but NOPE it still gets 20Mbps so i need a new router. So my question is, do i need a dual band or single band router? The range does not need to be huge as i am always close to my router in the same room when using the wireless devices but i want one than allows me to use 150Mbps or more. I heard dual band makes everything run at your max speed you pay for while single band splits it up evenly across every device connected but i may be wrong. I really want to pay $50 and under for a router because all i do is play games and such and use tablet for social media and YouTube. I seen some for $400! Defiantly not for what i need lol. Below are some routers that i like and have more than enough speed to allow me to run the speed i pay for. Also if dual band is better and if i need one please send me some links of dome good dual band ones if i need one.

Dual band AC is better to have since the 5GHz band is much less crowded.

You are wrong to go cheap on a router, a $50 budget for a router is just not enough as you'll most likely be having to buy another one inside 12 months - - the cheap ones just don't last long, usual symptom is loss of WiFi several times a week. That happenned on 3 routers I bought (all cost less than £80 ($100 USD).

I paid £150 ($180 USD) for a fasten-to-the-wall Billion router 3 years ago - - it's utterly reliable.
