Question Do I need a graphics card with this build?

Hi guys, I think iv'e done something stupid..

I'm building a simple computer for a family member..

using an MSI B450 pro VDH mobo and a AMD Ryzen 3 1200.

Just finished the build and couldnt get it to post.. much to my confusion, I've been over the build and EZ debug LED for VGA is constantly lit. I have a bad feeling I'm going to need a graphics card with this build in order to get it to post right? as this CPU doesnt have dedicated graphics..

Yes you need a gpu. The ryzen 3 1200 has no integrated graphics. I would return the 1200 and buy the ryzen 3 2200g, which does have built in vega graphics. The 2200g is like $90

Yeah, you need to slap in an inexpensive gpu to get it to have a video signal. The Ryzen 3 1200 doesn't have graphics built in, like the 2200G does. Or better yet, return it and get a Ryzen 3 2200G instead.

awesome, thanks guys! Returning it now to amazon as soon as I get the refund I'll get the 2200G.

It's only just been out of the box and in the motherboard a few hours! hope they accept it!

Amazon is good about returns. A 2200g will work in b450 no problem. The vega graphics are actually quite powerfull. The 2200g actually performs better than the 1200 and has higher clocks, but less cache.
