Solution
your system consumes over 200w under gaming load.
So while it might work initially, I wouldn't trust that for a long run.
You'd be better with a decent 450-550w unit. note, DECENT is important.

what are some good brands that i should look to upgrade too and if i swap it to the higher wattage psu will there be any issues regarding compatiblity

it's not about brand, most brands produce bad and good products.
the specific model recommendation depends on where you live and what "sale" is available ATM.
It might also depend on the form factor or other physical parameters dictated by the existing HW.

its being powered by a 6 pin connector from the psu, its seems too run many high end games like gta v and bf1 fine, would upgrading the psu increase the performence of the 1060 and reduce the risk of it breaking it?

ok. thanks for the help every1, ill got out and buy a good 500w psu so my computer doesnt die
