My friend has just brought his new pc http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/9DsCQ7 but the corsair 100r windowed only comes with a rear fan, should i get him to buy 140mm intakes or is the 1 fan okay?
You can put a 120mm or 140mm in front. I'd put a 140 up front to help case flow. The placement is perfect. It fits right between the upper and lower drive cages. Since the fan mount area is closed off to the front and only pulls air from the sides I suggest a high static pressure type fan.
Absolutely get an intake. An intake is more important than an exhaust in my opinion and will help keep dust from entering the case through seams instead of filtered intakes. Having both an intake and exhaust makes air flow in the case systematic

It's would be a good idea to have a Intake fan on the front whether it is a 120mm or a 140mm, as well as replacing that Stock cooler with at least a Hyper 212 Evo with 2 Fans if he plans on Overclocking that 4690K.
