Do i need a m to f vga cable?

So i have a monitor with a blue vga plug thing and my motherboard has a black plug does this mean i need a m to f vga cable or does it not make any difference?

Colour means nothing. 99% chance both PC and monitor are female, so you need a male to male cable.
