do I need a monitor that has more than 60 hz?

I'm curious to if I need it, if vsync would help with the tearing, although sometimes if I watch say, Blacklist on the website, it'll tear.. But I am curious, do I need a monitor of 144 hz for gaming or what can I do ?

Vsync is not really tied to the monitor.

You don't really need a monitor higher than 60 hz either.

If you really don't want the tearing, I suggest playing the game on Windowed Fullscreen mode.

You can do research on how to do that on YouTube.

Also, some games have this option, instead of playing the game on Fullscreen, there's options like Windowed Fullscreen.

I know CS:GO has this option. Most MMO games like Diablo 3 and Star Trek Online has this option too.

when I play borderlands, it tends to tear when I am running..

far cry 3 ; cut scenes at times, but I believe I fixed it.. just curious if I have to invest money into another monitor..
