Question Do I need a motherboard with PCIe Gen 4 slot for a 5600 XT GPU?

The MSI Gaming MX 5600 XT says on the box that it is PCIe 4.0. Does this mean I need a motherboard with a PCIe Gen 4 slot? If so, what motherboard do you recommend, please?

The slot is backwards compatible so it can drop into a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Any B550 chipset motherboard will do if you want to jump into PCIe 4.0 connectivity.

I see, but do I still get the full potential of the 5600 XT if I slot it in a Gen 3 PCIe? Something to do with bandwidth, I'm not sure
