Do I need a MSI Motherboard to use MSI AfterBurner?

I think this is a pretty stupid question, but I haven't been able to come up with an answer by researching. So MSI AfterBurner is an Overclocking BIOS, right? Or is it an app? I've seen MSI Motherboards use a BIOS that looks just like Afterburner... I'm still a bit lost...

I have an Intel Board DP55WG (LGA 1156). Am I able to use MSI Afterburner on it? Or do I need a MSI Motherboard? And I'm not sure if it's an app or a BIOS... Can someone please explain to me what exactly it is and if it can be used on my motherboard?

It's an application for overclocking GPUs via software. Has nothing to do with your motherboard or BIOS
