Do i need a new Hard drive?

Over the past couple of weeks i have had high disk usage whenever i open a program, and whenever i play a game i get constant freezes and usually end up having to close out the game. I have tried almost all solutions on the web and have done multiple scans of my hardrive and was wondering if it was time to get a new one?

Possible a boot SSD instead. Dont clone tho as you should do a fresh install to make sure its not software.

i would run some diagnostics on the drive first and if they come back normal then i would backup any important data then format and reinstall windows. mechanical HDD's can start to get sluggish if you have been on the same windows install for more then a year

i have done a fresh start is that comparable to reinstalling windows?

that depends on what option you picked during the fresh start. if you chose the option to keep all your files then that just reinstalls windows. if you picked the option that removes all data that would be a clean install

that option would just reinstall windows over you old install. a clean install would be where windows would erase everything and format the HDD. that would be the one to go with to improve HDD performance just make sure you are able to backup your critical files first
